Many Happy Returns
MANY HAPPY RETURNS tells the story of a separated couple (Anna and Mathias), who, despite of the not yet healed wounds, organize the birthday party for Lukas, their seven year old son, together. When in the end of the party one of the children guests, Julius (6), doesn't get picked up by his parents a rapid chain of events starts. At first Matthias simply wants to get rid of Julius, but then the helpless boy arouses his protective instincts and he opens his eyes to his own son's needs: by acting as protector of Julius, Matthias learns that he also has to give more attention towards his own son.
A story that shines brilliantly in captivating black-and-white pictures. Carlos Morelli succeeds in...a fine mixture of black humour, emotions and eerie moments.
