TOUCHING CONCRETE - documentary - in production
Is the city owned by its citizens or does the owns them? "Toching Concrete" tells about people in the district of Hillbrow in Johannesburg - people which live in a concrete-jungle. Often loner and fighters for survival they follow the realization of their dreams in a district of changes and extremes. The film tells from their point of view about the life in a labyrith of collapsing order at a place where the state has lost the control a long time ago.
The idea to this film, which will be realized in co-production with the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, came from Ilja Stahl, who graduates with this production. The documentary will be shot in super16, super8 and HD. Niclas Reed Middleton ("Football Undercover") will be responsible for the photography. The project is supported by the Filmstiftung Nordrhein Westfalen.
